A day in Lexis Hibiscus Port Dickson Malaysia
The kids were having a school break and we decided to go for a road trip in Malaysia and stayed in one of the award-winning resorts, Lexis Hibiscus Port Dickson. I had been to Port Dickson many years ago with friends and we stayed in a chalet near the beach. At that time, there wasn’t any water villa above the sea. So this time, I want to fulfil my dream of at least staying in a water villa once in my lifetime.
Port Dickson is not too far away, about three and a half hours drive from Singapore. It is one of the coastal towns near Kuala Lumpur. Not a lot of things to do in Port Dickson but I believe having a swim or just laze around the beach is more than enough of activities since this is the idea of a relaxing vacation.
The resort check-in time is at 4 pm, which is rather unusual. So, we decided not to leave too early for the road trip, making sure the driver was fully rested the night before embarking on this road trip/beach vacation. Traffic on both sides of the checkpoints was smooth and the weather was really good. Good day for a swim. Yay!
Enroute to Port Dickson, we had a small detour to Yong Peng town for lunch. Had our lunch at this restaurant called Yuan Yean which sells fishballs noodle. Started in 1988 as a pushcart stall and moved to the current location in 1998, this restaurant sells fishballs with a savoury sauce or soup noodle. When we were there, the parking was full and a lot of patrons were inside the restaurant.
The soup noodle and the sauce noodle were deliciously cooked with tender bouncy fishballs. However, the restaurant also warned that they tried their best to pick out the fish bones but somehow there might be some fish bones that were too fine still stuck within the fishballs, so got to eat with caution!
After the hearty meal, we continued the journey and reached Lexis Hibiscus just a few minutes past three in the afternoon. There were plenty of parking spaces at the resort. Check-in procedure was fast and smooth. Maybe because we went on a weekday and the resort was not in full capacity, the hotel staff decided to upgrade our executive pool villa to a premium pool villa. Wow! Check out the different rooms offered by Lexis Hibiscus here.
The differences between the two are the latter is bigger in size and it is located further away from the main hotel lobby, on the petals of the Hibiscus.
After check-in, the concierge helped us with our luggage and directed us to the buggy service queue. Apparently, this resort uses the buggy to ferry hotel guests to and fro the main hotel building with the water villas. The buggy ride was fun and the kids loved it.
Our water villa was very clean and well maintained. The bedroom was spacious with all necessities provided. The king-sized beds were comfortable and air condition was working well. Cable channels were provided. The villa had a spacious bathroom that could overlook the dip pool and the sea. Did I mention about private dip pool? Yes, every water villa comes with a private dip pool and a sauna/steam room. There was a clear glass panel that we could see the sea water and occasionally the marine creatures swam by if we were lucky.
After we settled our luggage and checked out the room, we went out for a walk to explore the resort. There were a public pool and a kids pool at the main hotel building, game room, bicycles and Segway rental station, a cruise, food court near the beach, water activities eg water slides at the beach, a few restaurants and bars. However, those activities like water slides, game room and bicycles rental were not included in the room rates. So if you decided to play, you had to pay for the activities.
Now it was the fun time. We swam in the public pool for a bit before returning to our villa for dip pool fun. We also tried out the sauna room but didn’t stay long inside because it was a hot day. Time flew by so soon that it was near dinner time. So time to clean up and got ready for dinner.
Then, the unfortunate happened. During check-in, a notice was put up at the reception of water disruption in the resort between 2 pm to 5 pm. However, at 6 pm, when one of my kids wanted to take a shower, there was trinket of water coming out of the shower head and tap. Made a few calls to the reception to ask about the water supply but no one picked up the calls. Panic!!! After a few tries, finally, someone picked up the call and told us the disruption was extended to 7 pm. Oh no…
We had no choice but to extend our pool dipping time till 7 pm. By then, the water supply came back. However, to our dismay, we were not informed about water would turn muddy and brownish that my kid showered with dirty water thinking that it was the bathroom light made the water appeared brown in colour. We found out from the reception that we would have to let the water run until it became clear again and this could take awhile. I tried for 10 minutes and the water still muddy. So we heed the hotel advice, just let the water run through it course for however long it took.
Because of the water drama, we decided to have our dinner at one of the hotel restaurants, called Roselle Coffee House. We ordered the a la carte dinner that consisted of mostly Malaysia cuisine such as Nasi Lemak, Vegetarian Fried Rice and Crusty Noodle. The food was alright. The restaurant was quiet with a few patrons inside the restaurant while we were dining there.
After a good night sleep, we had our breakfast at the same restaurant again. Breakfast was included in our hotel booking. Now this time around, the restaurant was full of people. Everyone was either busy eating or grabbing food from the buffet tables. The breakfast spread was mostly local dishes but the food not bad. With full capacity in the restaurant, the food was always replenished quickly.
Before the check out time, we had another round of pool dipping and sauna time. Check out at the hotel was smooth even though there were lots of people checking out at the same time. We used the buggy service again to get to the main building with our luggage. Take note that you need to call for the buggy service and sometimes it will take longer during peak hours eg. check out time.
During pool dipping time, we researched popular eateries in Port Dickson for our lunch. We came to this restaurant called Lucky King Bun which sells curry chicken inside a big bun. So we decided to give it a try and it did not disappoint. There are two branches, one in Port Dickson and another one in Seremban. Since we were heading to Kuala Lumpur so going to the Seremban branchΒ make sense because it was on our way there. The Seremban restaurant is very near to the North-South Highway exit and it is a fully air-conditioned restaurant. We ordered the curry chicken king bun, fried crispy pork and local tofu. Three thumbs up from us.
This holiday had its ups and downs but we created fond memories together with the kids. Want to know more about Lexis Hibiscus? Click here to find out the rates and the reviews from other travellers.

Yes, they are. If you get the better villas, you can have a panoramic view of the sea and beautiful sunset.

Wow what a treat!! It reminds me of our trip in Crete last summer.
Beautiful weather and sea and sandy beach. The food looks delisious. I saw the girls sitting on the swines facing the sea, a dream. ππ
