The first day of 2018
It had been raining since the night before (new year’s eve) till this morning when I woke up from bed. So naturally I thought today (new year’s day) I would probably stay indoor the whole day. The weather forecast had predicted a wet day too.
However, to my surprise, the rain finally stopped in the afternoon and I decided to go to the nearest park for a walk with my family, to enjoy the outdoor.
After changing into our exercise gears, off we went to West Coast Park. Usually, we would bring along our bicycles or get rental bikes at the park to cycle along the tracks. However, being a new year’s day, we decided to do a walk instead.
Because of a slower pace, this actually opened my eyes to notice something I had never paid attention to, i.e. the bamboo groves at this park. It was actually very small and just a few bamboo trees but it reminded me of the Kyoto Arashiyama bamboo groves that I had seen from blogs or Pinterest photos that I had researched previously.
New year inspiration: just slow down, you will see a different side of everything…. and enjoy it!

Oh yeah, it was the same here with all that rain over the weekend.
But that will not dampen our spirits for we used it to catch up on sleep + laundry + sorting the photos etc… Happy 2018!

Such a beautiful picture Vera! I totally resonate with your thoughts. Learned this lesson last year and so good to be reminded of it at the beginning of the new year. A bit clishe to say it – Iāve adopted the ā live in the present/momentā approach, lots of truth in it. Happy New Year!

Thanks Isabelle! Thatās why the acronym YOLO – You Only Live Once is so popular. š
