Tokyo Hotel Reviews
In my recent trip to Tokyo, I had stayed in 3 different hotels. I know, you must be thinking “why in the world would I do that?”. Well, I don’t blame you because I hate changing hotels with the packing and unpacking, the boring waiting time to check in and getting used to the new bed and pillows… My reason is I planned a day travel out of Tokyo to the nearest onsen town, Hakone for a one night stay. Since I broke the whole 7-day Tokyo trip into two, so I might as well enjoy staying in another hotel to try the hospitality of Tokyoites. Therefore, this blog is to review the 3 hotels that I stayed over the 7 days when I was in Tokyo.
Hundred Stay Tokyo Shinjuku
The first 3 nights I stayed in Hundred Stay Tokyo Shinjuku. This is a highly recommended hotel for long-term stay travellers or corporate people. In my opinion, this is more like a serviced apartment than a hotel. In the room, there is a kitchenette, sofa and coffee table in front of a tv, a washer-cum-dryer, a foldable door to separate the beds and the small living room.
We stayed in a four-bedded family suite. Room size is about 56 m². The room comes with a simple breakfast in the morning, free wifi in the room, security door with an access card to enter the hotel’s elevator. To entertain kids, the hotel has a robot dog near the front desk so that the kids can play with it.
The hotel is located one station away from Shinjuku transport hub. And the nearest train station, Okubo Station, is only 5 minutes walk from the hotel. There are shops, eateries and supermarkets on both sides of the street from the hotel to the train station.
We enjoyed staying at this hotel. The beds were comfortable, it was spacious for two adults and two kids, the hotel room was quiet, the room interior was clean and well-maintained.
Our hotel package included daily breakfast. The hotel had a small restaurant seating. The international breakfast spread was small and the food was alright.
Overall, this is a great hotel for short and long-term stay. Highly recommended!

Tounosawa Ichinoyu Shinkan Hotel
I had planned a one night stay in the onsen town of Hakone. Before this, we had never tried onsen. Because this was the first time, we preferred to have privacy. Therefore, we decided to stay in the ryokan with a
Tounosawa Ichinoyu Shinkan Hotel located near the Hakone-Yumoto station, that is about 5 minutes drive from the station. The nearest train station is the Tonosawa station, just a 7 minutes walk. However, the hotel is situated on a steep hill. If you decide to walk from the train stations to the hotel, make sure you do not bring any big bags or luggage as you have to walk through steeply hills and slopes.
This was a small ryokan and did not have
The room was a simple Japanese-style room with floor mattresses and thick quilts, a short square table, a tv, outdoor slippers for us to wear when we were out for dinner in the ryokan’s restaurant, yukata to wear in and out of the room, and most importantly, a private onsen bath just outside of the room balcony.
The private onsen bath was the highlight of this room. It had a rustic feel of the private bath, that was at the balcony. Because it was an outdoor bath, you could feel the chilly breeze. However, if you were soaking in the hot onsen water, the feeling was like on cloud nine, listening to the trickling water sound, the crickets chirping and enjoying the breeze on your face. Highly recommended to anyone who is willing to splurge on having
Our room package included dinner and breakfast. Another
Though this ryokan was simple and rustic, however, the experience was wonderful and unforgettable.

Hotel Musse Ginza Meitetsu
After staying in Hakone for one night, we went back to Tokyo again. This time, we stayed in the Ginza area which is the famous shopping belt in Tokyo.
Hotel Musse Ginza Meitetsu is a new business hotel. What I like about this hotel is it has connecting rooms for four hotel guests and the hotel package is affordable.
The interior of the room was small but enough for two people to move around. The bed was comfortable and pillows were Japanese-style pillows. The room was quiet too. Wifi speed was fast. One thing special was the washing sink was outside of the toilet.
Around the hotel, there were eateries, 7 Eleven and retail shops. The nearest subway station was about 7 minutes walk. Therefore the location was very convenient.
Overall, the hotel was pleasant. Location was the best point about this hotel. Entertainment, food, shopping, anything you want, you can get it near this hotel.
These are the three hotels we stayed during our 9 days 8 nights trip to Tokyo. You can use these as a guide to look for your ideal hotel rooms according to your budget.
