Top 5 places to visit in Florence Italy
Florence, a city that is famous for its Renaissance artworks and architecture. This post I want to introduce you to more top places that you can visit in this lovely city.
Uffizi Gallery
It only takes 2 minutes to walk from Palazzo Vecchio to Uffizi Gallery. One of the most visited museums in the world, it houses a collection of paintings from the Renaissance period to the Modern period, sculptures, books and archives. Some of the art collections are from Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Caravaggio, Botticelli, Giotto, Raphael, Titian and other artworks from European painters. Yet again another building designed by Vasari, the interior architecture is also another piece of art itself. Any museum or art lovers can spend a whole day admiring the vast collections of artworks. However, being one of the most visited museums in the world, long queues at the entrance is expected. So, being there early and bought tickets in advance are advised. I went before the official opening hours of the gallery and a queue already formed in front of me. So do take note of this. Interested to find out about the admission rates, click here.

Palazzo Pitti
The powerful Medici family used to stay in this palace. So when you entered the palace, you can see the opulence of the rooms, impressive high ceilings, exquisite sculptures, a lot of beautiful artworks and exhibits for your eyes to explore. Once you are done with this, I believe you will need a neck massage to soothe the aching neck for looking at the high ceilings all the time. You can purchase the admission ticket together with Uffizi Gallery and Boboli Garden. Click here for admission rates.

Boboli Garden
If you are in Palazzo Pitti, you should not miss Boboli Garden which is just behind the palace. This huge garden is decorated with lots of beautiful sculptures. If you climb to the other end of the garden, you can visit the porcelain museum and have a great view of the city of Florence. However, it is a quite a hike to walk uphill so remember to wear comfortable shoes. If you are interested to find out more about this garden, check out its official website and the entrance fees here.

Piazza Della Signoria
Merely 5 minutes walk from Florence Duomo, this square or piazza is right in front of the Palazzo Vecchio Museum. It is a place where tourists and locals gather as this square provides the passageway to Palazzo Vecchio Museum, Uffizi Gallery and Loggia dei Lanzi. Besides being the intersection of the top museums, it also holds some imposing big statues such as The Rape of the Sabine Women by Giambologna, Perseus with the Head of Medusa by Cellini, Fountain of Neptune by Ammannati and Medici Lion by Fancelli.

Florence (or perhaps Italy in general) is beautiful in its own right. The renaissance architecture, history and cultural heritage makes it distinguishable from other European countries. Your favourite painting is lovely! I also like the chandeliers. Great post Keen! 😊
