The mouthwatering Ippudo Ramen in Namba Osaka
What do you like to eat during cold weather? Well, for me, I like to eat something with hot delicious soup. So we decided on this winter day travelling in Osaka, we should get a bowl of hot ramen each to fill up our ever-hungry stomachs. In the daylight, while walking towards the subway station, we saw the big advertisement for Ippudo Ramen and it was a very short distance walk from the Namba subway station. So after a tiring day walking around Osaka Castle, Osaka Museum of History and Umeda Sky Building, we headed to this restaurant for dinner before going back to our Airbnb apartment for recharging.

The restaurant was crowded and we needed to wait for a table. After 10 minutes wait, we were finally offered a big table, sharing with another family. The restaurant was average in size with a few tables and some counter seats. All the waiters were busy serving, cleaning and ordering from patrons.
This was not the first time I had ever tried Ippudo Ramen. I had its ramen at the Singapore branch a few times.
We had the Shiromaru Classic ramen which came with a white coloured bowl and Akamaru Modern which came with a red coloured bowl. Both ramen had tonkotsu soup, spring onions, kombu and pork belly. The difference between the two flavours was the latter (red bowl) had added chilli.

This international renown ramen did not disappoint. The softness of ramen could adjust according to your preference such as soft, medium or hard ramen. I had the medium softness ramen and it was just as I liked, not too soft and not too hard, just RIGHT! My kids had chosen the oft ramen and they loved it.
The soup was creamy but not very thick. The savoury pork broth was addictive. Together with the juicy pork belly, spring onions, kombu and the thinly long noodle, the vision was absolutely enticing. The aromatic smell and the richness in the hot soup really brought out the best for this ramen.
In the end, we finished all the ramen and the soup too. What a hearty meal it was! The hot soup really warmed us up, made our walking journey back to our apartment a lot easier since it was cold outside.
Each bowl of Shiromaru Classic costs 790 Yen and Akamaru Modern costs 850 Yen. There are a few branches in Osaka city, click here to find out more.
