Variations on a theme
Mosaics have always fascinated me. They are very colourful, have different patterns, made by a variety of elements and always give you a sense of being in a maze. Sometimes, at a certain angle, together with sunlight, the elaborate mosaics appear to turn into shining stars just like our night sky. Other times, the intricate mosaics become paintings of flowers, hang on the walls for people to stare at. With their kaleidoscopic colours, they can simply turn into a beautiful sculpture or a tough-to-solved jigsaw puzzle. Mosaics, they look the same, but yet they are so different.
Our lives are unique stones in the mosaic of human existence- priceless and irreplaceable. By Henry Nouwen

One of my favourite places in Barcelona. The colours and patterns of the tiles are amazing 🙂

Yeah, one of my favorites too. I went to Park Guell very early that day to beat the crowds and got to see the mosaics and tiles on the walls and ceilings. Totally worth it.

That was very smart. It pays to be early at touristy places like that! 😉

Mosaics are not traditionally used as a building/decoration material in Scandinavia, at least not the colourful sorts. This material is often to be seen in Canadian Isles, and it makes the Canadian style architecture so distinguishable and beautiful!

Thanks for the great info! I did check it out and I must say the Canadian mosaics are very impressive.
