A face in the crowd
I was trying to capture the charm of a quiet alley in Spain and just snap the photo. Inevitably, my travel partner became my subject in the photo. It could probably interpret as a lone traveller walking down a quiet street in the middle of a big city. To me, it serves as a portrait of him having travel to this part of the world, wandering and lost in this city. The following are some of the faceless portraits I had shown in some of my blog posts. Check them out if you are interested. Ladies in kimono while walking in Kyoto. The kimonos were so vibrant in colours I…

Sweet
Valentine’s Day is a day where couples shower each other with sweetness, whether it is chocolates, desserts or a sweet gesture of giving a rose. Even towards family members, giving sweetness like cooking a meal, playing games together or simply spending time accompany each other to show their love to one another. This Valentine’s Day I decided to have brunch at The Coffee Academic at Scott Square Singapore. This was where I tried this dubbed as ‘the most Instagrammed coffee in the World’, Coffee In The Cone. The interior of the cone is coated with chocolate. Instead of ice cream, warm coffee is added into the cone. A stirrer is…

Tour guide – Marina Bay Garden By The Bay
Garden by the Bay at Marina Bay is one of the must-visit places in Singapore. In fact, it is also one of the topmost instagrammable places in Singapore. Here, you can see the Supertree Grove measuring between 25 to 50 metres tall, that provide shades to visitors during the day and rainbow colours lights display during the night. There is a skywalk that connects a few of the Supertrees where you can see the panoramic views of the Garden and Marina Bay area. If the hot and humid place is too much for you, go to the Flower Dome or Cloud Forest for a walk within an indoor climate-control environment, where…

Beloved
Beloved, is someone or something that you love, hold dearly, treasured, cherished and adored. This precious one holds dear to your heart. Sometimes, you get mad at your beloved and other times this sweetheart can brighten up your day with just one glimpse. While this dearest of yours can make you feel strong and powerful, but it can make you vulnerable and bring you to your knees. To my beloved – Sunrise. Variations on a theme
Mosaics have always fascinated me. They are very colourful, have different patterns, made by a variety of elements and always give you a sense of being in a maze. Sometimes, at a certain angle, together with sunlight, the elaborate mosaics appear to turn into shining stars just like our night sky. Other times, the intricate mosaics become paintings of flowers, hang on the walls for people to stare at. With their kaleidoscopic colours, they can simply turn into a beautiful sculpture or a tough-to-solved jigsaw puzzle. Mosaics, they look the same, but yet they are so different. Our lives are unique stones in the mosaic of human existence- priceless and…

Silence
Living in a city-state, noise becomes inevitably part of my life. The hustling and bustling sound can sometimes be a nuisance or irritant especially when I seek peace and quiet. Of course, people would suggest going to the outskirts or mountains to get away from all the noise. But, not everytime I could do something like that, just pack my bags and leave my place. So this is where these soundproof windows come in. The windows in my apartment, not just serve as a protective layer from the rain and dust, but also insulate my rooms from the noise pollutions coming from the traffics and construction sites. When I close…

Weekly Photo Challenge – Weathered Bridge At Sumiyoshi Taisha Shrine
During my recent trip to Osaka Japan, I had visited a few shrines. One of the oldest shrines I had come across is the ancient Sumiyoshi Taisha Shrine. It was founded in the 3rd century. Sumiyoshi Taisha Shrine was and still is the headquarter and the most famous of over two thousand Sumiyoshi shrines found across the whole Japan, i.e. it is also called Sumiyoshi Grand Shrine. What attracted me to this shrine was perhaps the beautiful Sorihashi Bridge. In its bright red colour and its high-arch, it was always attention-grabbing. However, because of its age (at least 400 years old), when crossing the bridge, I could see the aged wooden…

Growth Mindset
Yesterday, when I was going through my kids’ things, I saw the files on the table that were given by their teachers for keeping their homework sheets. I found them very inspiring. Growth Mindset was coined by Dr Carol Dweck after spending 30 years researching on students’ attitude towards failure. Some have rebounded very quickly while others have been devastated even by the slightest setbacks. Those that rebounded quickly adopt the Growth Mindset, meaning they have the underlying beliefs that people can be successful as long as ones put in the time and effort to achieve their goals. In a way, to me, this is a growth on our minds…
