One Day In… Magic Fountain Montjuic, Barcelona Spain

I was mesmerised by the Magic Fountain show when we were in Barcelona. Of course, I had planned to go there for the show to experience the magical moment of combining music with water to express the emotions of the songs. It was worth the time and agony to brace the freezing wind during the performance. I did not include this video in my previous post TOP Things To Do In Barcelona to showcase the magnificent fountain. So I decided to do it justice by adding this video here to share with all of you. Additional information about the timing of the show. Goldilocks Lifestyle Travel - Blog

Being in a tropical country, Bali is the ultimate beach vacation for everyone, albeit for honeymoon or relaxation. Voted as one of the top destinations to visit in TripAdvisor, Bali is full of culture things to explore such as food, temples, handcrafts markets, dance, entertainments and more. I have been to Bali twice and each time I stayed in different hotels. One was a couple trip and another one was a family trip with kids. Both times, I truly enjoyed this beautiful island and its hospitality. So here I wish to share with you my tips on where to stay and what to do on this sunny island in Indonesia. What…

The view of Osaka city from Umeda Sky Building

Do you like to visit tall buildings, bell towers, Ferris wheels or architectural sites to take a bird’s eye view of the whole city that you visit? I think I did this in most of the cities I visited for the past few years. The view from tall structure always gives me the estimates of how big or small of the cities. And sometimes it accompanies with the explanations of how the cities grow from small towns to what they are now. So, that’s why I pay a visit to Umeda Sky Building to enjoy the view of Osaka. After visiting Osaka Museum of History, we took the subway train…

    Osaka Museum of History

Do you enjoy cultural activities like visiting the museum? If yes, then I would suggest paying a visit to Osaka Museum of History after the Osaka Castle. The walking distance between the two is about 14 minutes. It was easy to get to the museum as there were lots of signs along the way to the museum. This museum is just next to NHK Osaka (Japan broadcasting company). I really like the architecture style of this museum. Very tall, modern, and a three-quarter globe-shaped entrance. Click this to get Osaka Itinerary! After the morning walk in Osaka Castle, we decided to get lunch first. So, we had our lunch at…

8 Fun Facts About Japanese Cultures

Usually, before travelling to another country, I will try to research online about places to go, what to eat and what is the culture or practices the locals do so that I know what to expect. However, no matter how I read extensively about these, it will never be the same as personal experiences. So here are some of the fun facts about Japanese culture when I was in Osaka for my recent trip. 1. Are you on the RIGHT side of the escalator? In Singapore, we always stand on the left side of the escalator and overtaking on the right side. However, this is totally opposite in Osaka. So…

    The iconic Osaka Castle

One of the most picture-worthy spots to take amazing photos in Osaka is the Osaka Castle. Like other palaces and castles built around the world, Osaka Castle was built to show the power and wealth of the owner, Hideyoshi Toyotomi. It is a symbol of the unification of Japan during the sixteenth century. After the death of Hideyoshi, the castle was established as the government office. It was destroyed twice either by war or natural disaster and finally in 1931, reconstructed as a military base using funds raised by the citizens. Today, Osaka Castle sits on two square kilometres plot of land with lots of green space, big garden, sports facilities,…

    Science Center Singapore

I have been scratching my head to plan trips or programs for my kids during the six-weeks year-end school holidays. And then, there was an article about Science Center Singapore that my Hubby read and suggested to me to bring the kids there. So there we go! We had not been to Science Center for years so to our surprise that we found out the ticketing counters have moved to the right in front of McDonald’s. We only knew about this when a security guard asked us politely whether we were visiting the centre and the tickets could be bought at the ticketing booth in front of the McDonald’s. As…

TOP things to do in Valencia

Valencia, the third largest city in Spain, has a mix of old and modern buildings, certainly has its charm. Besides the architecture, it is where the famous Spanish food Paella originally from. Rich in culture, great architecture, delicious food and plenty of drinks, so definitely should not give this city a miss. Architecture Let’s talk about the old buildings first. In Spain, I encountered various plazas or squares. And usually, these plazas are accompanied by famous buildings, for example, the cathedrals, bell towers or palaces. One day in Seville

What to do in Seville for a day trip from Madrid? The following was tried and tested in late November 2015. All the places we went were within walking distance. Took a Renfe train from Madrid Atocha train station to Seville Santa Justa station. The train ride was about 2 hours and 30 minutes. We took an early train so that we would have time to cover more places in Seville in one day. Casa de Pilatos Our first stop was to see Casa de Pilatos. It took us about 15 minutes walk from the train station to this place. This 15th-century mansion was gorgeous. This amazing mansion had a…
