One Day In… Magic Fountain Montjuic, Barcelona Spain

I was mesmerised by the Magic Fountain show when we were in Barcelona. Of course, I had planned to go there for the show to experience the magical moment of combining music with water to express the emotions of the songs. It was worth the time and agony to brace the freezing wind during the performance. I did not include this video in my previous post TOP Things To Do In Barcelona to showcase the magnificent fountain. So I decided to do it justice by adding this video here to share with all of you. Additional information about the timing of the show. Goldilocks Lifestyle Travel - Blog

    The fluid Montjuic Magic Fountain

Before visiting Barcelona, I did research on must-visit places and Montjuic Magic Fountain was one of them. On certain days, the fountain would come to live with its music and lights choreography that would capture everyone’s attention. My travel partner and I had waited for musical fountain show on one of the weekends. Not too long, people were gathering at the stairways and pathways near the fountain waiting for its live action to start. Not even the cold night with the chilling wind blowing could stop the crowd to group together for this. Once the show started, the chattering among the crowd softened and the infectious music from the loudspeakers brought the…

Beautiful Lines In City Of Arts And Sciences Valencia

Most of my travel photos involved a lot of architectural buildings and structures because I tend to visit cities instead of nature. So when it comes to lines, my immediate thoughts are those imposing and amazing architectural structures I have come across. One of those structures that fit this description is none other than the City of Arts and Sciences in Valencia Spain. This modern architectural masterpiece is considered as one of the 12 Treasures in Spain. All the buildings have rows of lines that interconnecting or supporting each other. When you look from the outside of the buildings, the supporting beams and columns are lines, just like uniform soldiers…

    Variations on a theme

Mosaics have always fascinated me. They are very colourful, have different patterns, made by a variety of elements and always give you a sense of being in a maze. Sometimes, at a certain angle, together with sunlight, the elaborate mosaics appear to turn into shining stars just like our night sky. Other times, the intricate mosaics become paintings of flowers, hang on the walls for people to stare at. With their kaleidoscopic colours, they can simply turn into a beautiful sculpture or a tough-to-solved jigsaw puzzle. Mosaics, they look the same, but yet they are so different. Our lives are unique stones in the mosaic of human existence- priceless and…

TOP things to do in Valencia

Valencia, the third largest city in Spain, has a mix of old and modern buildings, certainly has its charm. Besides the architecture, it is where the famous Spanish food Paella originally from. Rich in culture, great architecture, delicious food and plenty of drinks, so definitely should not give this city a miss. Architecture Let’s talk about the old buildings first. In Spain, I encountered various plazas or squares. And usually, these plazas are accompanied by famous buildings, for example, the cathedrals, bell towers or palaces. So no surprise here in Valencia it is the same. One of the places I had been to was the square of Valencia Cathedral. At…

    One day in Seville

What to do in Seville for a day trip from Madrid? The following was tried and tested in late November 2015. All the places we went were within walking distance. Took a Renfe train from Madrid Atocha train station to Seville Santa Justa station. The train ride was about 2 hours and 30 minutes. We took an early train so that we would have time to cover more places in Seville in one day. Casa de Pilatos Our first stop was to see Casa de Pilatos. It took us about 15 minutes walk from the train station to this place. This 15th-century mansion was gorgeous. This amazing mansion had a…

What food to eat in Barcelona

Barcelona is a vibrant city with colourful mosaic and interesting architecture. However, there are also part of Barcelona that we should go on to discover, like food and culture. Many people who want to visit Barcelona, will think about going to taste the local food. The first thing that comes to mind is Paella. However, Paella is actually from Valencia. The traditional Paella is made of rice, rabbit, chicken, snail, green beans and some seasoning. Not the seafood Paella we eat in our countries. So when I was in Barcelona, I would inevitably ordered seafood Paella, thinking I had to try the Spanish most famous dish. However, to my surprise,…

4 Top Things To Do In Barcelona

Barcelona is a very interesting place. It is the second most populous city in Spain. It is located in the northeast of Spain and it is facing the Mediterranean Sea. The interesting things about Barcelona are the arts, architectural sites, culture, food and the beaches. Here are some of the highlights of Barcelona that I have personally been to. Sagrada Familia If you visit Barcelona, you can never miss the famous Catalan architect Antoni Gaudi. Most of his famous works are in Barcelona. Some of the architectural sites have been declared as World Heritage Sites by UNESCO. Gaudi works were inspired by nature and religion and they have the distinctive modernism in…
